Street Art by DALeast
DALeast is a Chinese born artist that lives and works in Capetown, South Africa. The 29-year-old, who keeps his real name a secret, has been making art since he was three. His unusual paintings, which are sometimes hundreds of feet across, looks three dimensional and appears to have been created out of thousands of tiny metal shards.
DALeast showed an interest for drawing since he was two or three. When he grew up, he studied Sculpture in the Fine Art Institute in his hometown Wuhan, but dropped out in the fourth year – one year before he was supposed to complete. DALeast was disillusioned by the conservative mind sets and teaching methods. While in his first year of study, he joined a graffiti crew called JEJ, which is one of the first generation active graffiti crews in China. The teacher hated him because he would often neglect class work, instead spending his time on the streets painting walls.
Once, just before the 2008 Beijing Olympics, police broke into a house he was staying in and arrested him and his graffiti crew. They thought they were terrorists after they saw the group all night bombing and tagging.
DALeast spends six months of the year travelling and has tagged walls on nearly every continent. His works can be seen in Cape Town, Miami, New York and London's Brick Lane, as well as his native China. 27 more images after the break...

Amazing Surreal Photography by Alastair Magnaldo
The phrase, "Every picture tells a story," sounds like a cliché until you see the work of Alastair Magnaldo. His photos are for the ones who see stories all around them, the ones who dream of "lying on fluffy clouds or frolicking among the stars," and the ones who won't let their imaginations flicker out like a dying flame. They show us the power of dreams and imagination at play. More than anything, however, Magnaldo captures the magic of childhood and all of the sweet emotions that come with it. 17 more images after the break...

Giant Dragon Skull on beach in Dorset’s Jurassic coast in England
On last Monday morning, locals and holiday makers were surprised to discover what appeared to be a giant skull of a dragon on Charmouth beach in Dorset’s Jurassic coast in England. The spectacular skull the size of a bus appeared to have been washed up on the beach famous for its treasure trove of dinosaur fossils. No need to panic. It’s just a publicity stunt by U.K. streaming video service Blinkbox who knows exactly how to celebrate the arrival of season 3 of the TV series Game of Thrones on their service.
The skull, which measures 40 feet long, 8 feet wide and 9 feet tall, took a team of three sculptors over two months to design, construct and paint. The skull was then transported across London and plonked down on Jurassic coast overnight. The choice of location was brilliant. The Jurassic coastline is home to a sequence of Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous rock formations spanning 185 million years of the Earth’s history. A large number of fossils has been unearthed in this region. The last major fossil to be found was that of the Ichthyosaur, a dolphin like creature which lived 220-65 million years ago. 10 more images after the break...

Playful Exotic Birds Made of Flower Petals — Red Hong Yi's
Artist Hong Yi, aka Red, is back with another fun project that, this time, turns flower petals into birds. After her playful 31-day Creativity with Food series was completed, the imaginative artist continued to take on various projects, but it seems she has developed yet another wonderful collection of cleverly crafted images.
The flower-bird series follows in Red's tradition of making something incredibly creative from unconventional materials. Sharing the images through her Instagram account, the project came to her organically. It began as a mandala using flowers picked from her garden back in Malaysia and evolved through an ode to Banksy and support for Turkey into a bird.
Bird: Rooster; Flowers: Gerberas and leaves
With each new addition, viewers can see the artist honing her skills with the experimental material. She started off creating a peacock that she admitted looked a bit like a turkey and has since refined her skills. With nine birds in her collection thus far, the artist concludes that she plans on making 5 five more. Followers should look forward to a bald eagle coming up next. 09 more images after the break...

Incarnate by Maskull Lasserre
What is lurking behind that row of textbooks on your bookshelf? Did they just move? Why are they clamped together tightly with a vice? Maskull Lasserre creates startling artistic works using unusual media. One of the incredible pieces in his Incarnate series is a series of textbooks pressed tightly together with a long carpenter’s vice. When you spin the piece around you find a human skull glaring back at you. As you look closer you notice that Lassserre carved the skull right out fo the pages of the textbooks. Using power tools and patience Maskull created this death-like skull from the insides of the series of books.
Maskull used a real human skull as the basis for creating his skull book. Be careful what you choose to read tonight. You never know what may be lurking on the other side. 06 more images after the break...

Blinded Men Statues Ascending High into the Sky
Karma is an intriguing sculptural installation by Korean artist Do Ho Suh that presents countless men sitting atop one another while shielding each other's eyes. Like his Cause & Effect piece, which features a spectacular tornado of figurines, Karma presents figurative sculptures ascending into the sky like a human ladder. However, in addition to being perched on each other's shoulders, they are successively blinding one another which leads one to wonder: Why? The artist has caught our attention over the years with misplaced houses, a robe made of dog tags, and symbolic floor installations; but it's his use of the human form that is most thought-provoking. His work continually questions one's identity and individuality by using the human body. These stainless steel men, though recognizably different entities, appear to move as one. While the piece is open for interpretation, it makes one question whether the idea behind it is to present the figure of a man blindly following in the path of his ancestors before him, who have risen a step closer to the heavens with each new successor in the lineage. 07 more images after the break...

Incredible Sculptures Carved from a Single Pencil
Equipped with a box of pencils and some carving tools, a Hungarian artist known simply as cerkahegyzo manages to produce incredibly detailed miniature sculptures. Each creation is constructed entirely out of its respective pencil, utilizing the wood and lead as its base and body. Cerkahegyzo uses the fine blades of razors and needles as well as the buffing capabilities of sandpaper, files, and polishing stones to whittle and shape his intricate pencil creations. The Budapest-based sculptor effectively constructs patterns and designs that creatively make the eyes wander back and forth and, at times, seem almost impossible. Like Dalton Ghetti, cerkahegyzo is a meticulous master of pencil sculpting. The artist even pays homage to Ghetti by replicating his sculptures of a heart, screw, and linked chains. Additionally, cerkahegyzo adds a playful touch, using tiny props to enliven images of his carvings. A needle and spool made out of the dark core of a pencil is cleverly adorned with bright, orange thread and a seemingly slithering snake is given some ambience with an accompanying sprout. 28 more images after the break...
